Shelter Design Studio is a Southern California–based design studio focused on residential communities, specializing in model homes, sales and leasing offices, and amenity spaces, with select work in private residences.
We partner closely with homebuilders, developers, and architects to create thoughtful, functional spaces that reflect each client’s vision. From concept through completion, we provide interior design, specification, and consulting services for both residential and commercial projects.

Carol Hill leads Shelter Design Studio with over two decades of experience creating thoughtful, market-driven interiors for residential builders and multi-family communities. Her work spans model homes, sales and leasing offices, and amenities spaces—always with a focus on design that connects with buyers and tells each community’s story. She has partnered with builders including Irvine Company, Irvine Pacific, The New Home Company, Lennar and California Pacific Homes, bringing a collaborative approach and steady project leadership to every stage.
Maggie Israel
Founder & Operations Director
Maggie Israel brings more than 20 years of design and operational experience, shaped by work across diverse markets and project types. Her experience includes working with builders and developers such as Irvine Company, Lennar, California Pacific, and John Laing Homes, as well as collaborating with homeowners and project teams on custom residential work. Maggie’s strength lies in balancing design vision with practical execution, ensuring projects run smoothly and align with each client’s goals.
